My wife just learned her employer will be closing their doors at the end of October. This coupled with things at my own job... What a year, what a year.
UPDATE: GM just called her and the date has now... moved up!

Sorry to hear that. Fuck this year.

Shitty news. Sorry to hear it. Hope she lands on her feet and things start looking up soon.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 14:26 |

Hope she finds something else quickly! One door closing and another one opens, etc, etc.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 14:26 |

sorry mate but if you/your wife need some job resources i can hook you up!
![]() 09/10/2020 at 14:27 |

Truly unfortunate. This year just keeps piling it on, doesn’ t it?

It ’s a good thing the USA doesn’t have a housing shortage! Otherwise, they would need more construction jobs.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 14:29 |

Shit. Sorry to hear it.
Hoping
she finds something even better soon.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 14:41 |

Shit that’s awful - hope she’s able to find something new soonish.

Sorry for
th
e
unfortunate turn of events.
On the bright side, I hear there’s an opening over at JMiner’s place of employment.
You will bounce back from this. If nothing else, y ou can always pick up work with a fencing company, right?
![]() 09/10/2020 at 14:53 |

On the plus side, this does give you 6-7 weeks to try and rectify the situation.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 14:56 |

Damn, I’m sorry to hear that. What line of work is your wife in?
![]() 09/10/2020 at 14:57 |

Oh God, I need to improve my concrete and post game first...
![]() 09/10/2020 at 14:59 |

Service industry.

Sorry, don’t think I can help then. We have a detachment out in Bremerton, and we always need people, but pretty much exclusively folks with a STEM background.

If you are a male escort and need to improve your post game, then you really do need a new line of work.
Seriously, fingers crossed for both of you that job security finds you soon.

All good
![]() 09/10/2020 at 15:15 |

Sorry man.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 15:27 |

Oof. Before the update I was thinking it was at least a little time to prepare. Not so much, now. Really sorry to hear.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 15:29 |

That sucks man :(
I know COVID is a thing, but a
re there jobs around that she could pick up another one semi-quickly or is she likely going to be unemployed for awhile? :(
![]() 09/10/2020 at 15:30 |
|
Aw... I’m sorry to hear that man. At least you’re getting some advance warning.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 15:31 |

That really sucks. Any chance you guys need poll workers for the short term to postpone the total loss of income? I signed up here and it supposedly pays $13-17/hour, though I guess we’ll see how much work they actually need.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 15:31 |
|
Too bad about the update then...
![]() 09/10/2020 at 15:32 |

I just hope she, well, both of you, find more secure employment soon . I’ve been there and it’s not fun.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 15:36 |
|
Yeah that sucks, it’s not great but it’s still being laid off immediately .
![]() 09/10/2020 at 15:44 |

Hopefully this brightens up your day.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 15:51 |

Shit dude, I’m sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed it’s a quick search.

I’m sorry to hear that. As a business owner in hospitality industry, we have had to layoff over 40% of our staff and my family is living off savings so we can keep more of our employees employed. Coupled with overall lack of economic growth on our side of Massachusetts, the next few years are going to be very tough.
Congress should have done more with the stimulus
programs to actually help the industries that needed the assistance. Why
did
Tom Brady’s company (TB12 that
just sells snake oil)
get
a PPP loan (probably forgiven)
and other smaller,
less connected businesses,
in impacted industries
that
could use the money right now get shafted?!
I hope that she can find something quick and you can get back to your hypothetical car purchases.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
sorry man :(

Sorry man, that sucks. Fingers crossed she can find something else quickly, what type of service industry job does she work in?

Super shitty. Assuming they’re not able to offer some form of payout? Hope this disaster of a year comes to an end soon and things start improving for you, bringing more and better opportunity on the uptick. Of course easy to just say on my end :(
![]() 09/10/2020 at 16:29 |

Is there any chance at severance pay or extension in benefits?
![]() 09/10/2020 at 16:31 |
|
Poop....
![]() 09/10/2020 at 16:44 |

I’m sorry to hear, I wish you both the best.
![]() 09/10/2020 at 18:38 |

Damn, fingers crossed she gets a parting gift and can get back out there.
I’ve been in that game lately too, it’s no picnic . A couple things I’ve learned -
ATS systems are like a disease now and I think might just pull a random sample rather than actually doing anything. Smaller employers seem to use these less, yielding more results. I think I heard from a recruiter or HR person or similar that these days it takes 20 resumes to get an interview, and maybe that many interviews to get a new position.

I’m really sorry to hear that. Best of luck to you too.

Luby’s? I saw their announcement today.

Nono, not familiar with that place

They are a good sized chain primarily in Texas. They had a buffet model though so it isn’t surprising that they’re not going to make it .
Very sorry y’all are going through this, regardless.

Damn, I’m sorry.

she’ll get another job before you know it
